About the Role:
You will take full responsibility for the organisation’s management accounting, budgeting, and cash flow management, ensuring accurate, timely financial insight for senior leadership. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will translate financial data into clear, actionable recommendations. You will also lead and mentor the finance team, embedding strong controls, robust processes, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end budgeting and forecasting cycle, providing clear analysis and commentary to support decision-making.
- Oversee monthly management accounts, including variance analysis, performance reporting, and insightful management information packs.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and daily liquidity, ensuring sufficient funding and optimising working capital.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to support accurate reporting and compliance.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to review financial performance, challenge assumptions, and support strategic planning and business cases.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs to non-finance managers in a clear and accessible manner.
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance team, setting objectives, monitoring performance, and supporting professional growth.
- Drive process improvements and the effective use of financial systems to increase efficiency and quality of financial information.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager or senior management accounting role with responsibility for budgeting and forecasting.
- Strong track record in preparing and reviewing management accounts and financial performance reports.
- Demonstrable expertise in cash flow management, including forecasting and working capital oversight.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, with the ability to handle large data sets and complex analysis.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience influencing non-finance colleagues.
- Proven leadership and people management experience within a finance function.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and provide clear recommendations.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to meeting deadlines.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience within a similar industry or multi-entity / multi-site environment.
- Familiarity with modern ERP or finance systems and reporting tools.
- Experience supporting or leading change initiatives or finance transformation projects.
- Knowledge of UK financial regulations and best practice in management reporting.
Qualifications:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent professional qualification.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development or relevant CPD is advantageous.
