You’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function, contributing to accurate financial processing, reporting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raise purchase orders in line with company policies and accounting standards
  • Create, process, and issue invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Record incoming payments and carry out credit control activities
  • Process payments via BACS, CHAPS, and SWIFT
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and review bank statements
  • Manage petty cash in accordance with internal procedures
  • Support EU VAT reclaims on fuel
  • Maintain organised financial records (electronic and paper-based)
  • Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Monitor cash flow and debtor days, reporting as required
  • Support cost centre reporting and analysis
  • Assist with audit preparation and provide required documentation
  • Conduct credit checks and set up new customer accounts
  • Provide cover across the finance team when needed
  • Respond to finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with payroll processing (UK & EU), including new starter setup and reporting

About You

  • Previous experience in a finance role, ideally covering both purchase and sales ledger
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry
  • Confident IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and finance systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Well organised with the ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively
  • Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders
  • Comfortable working with financial data (GCSE Maths Grade C/Level 4 or above or equivalent)

Additional Information

  • You will be part of a supportive team environment with opportunities to broaden your finance experience
  • The role requires a strong commitment to accuracy, organisation, and teamwork
  • You will be expected to work in line with health & safety standards and contribute to an inclusive working culture
