Finance Project Coordinator
Job Description
Finance Project Coordinator
Interim for min.6 Months+ | East Midlands
Are you a finance-qualified project coordinator with strong process improvement skills and a prior background in transactional finance? Our client, an established Midlands business, is looking for an experienced finance contractor to join their finance function and support in the day-to-day coordination of a high-priority platform modernisation programme within Finance.
This is a hands-on, high-visibility contract where you will be the driving force on the ground — keeping workstreams on track, mapping processes end to end, and ensuring the right conversations happen across a wide stakeholder base.
The Role
Reporting into the Project Manager, this project sits firmly within the finance function and centres on consolidating a number of legacy platforms onto a single, modernised solution. The products involved are customer-facing financial products, meaning the project carries a strong emphasis on financial controls, liability management, and general ledger accuracy.
Day to day, you can expect to:
- Coordinate activity across multiple project workstreams, managing the timetable and driving progress
- Liaise with stakeholders across finance, technology, operations, and customer-facing teams
- Map end-to-end business process flows, overlaying people and finance processes onto existing systems documentation
- Identify risks and controls at each process step and document general ledger impacts
- Attend and actively lead fact-finding and stakeholder meetings — this is not a back-office role
- Robustly represent finance requirements when working alongside technical teams
- Support process improvement activity, capturing current-state and future-state flows
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with prior transactional finance experience
- Proven process mapping and process improvement skills — end-to-end and detail-oriented
- Previous experience working on projects
- Ability to identify, document, and articulate risks, controls, and financial accounting impacts
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills across all levels
- Advanced Excel
- A flexible, adaptable approach — comfortable shifting between tasks and teams as the project demands
- Commutable to the East Midlands and able to be on-site daily
Desirable:
- Internal audit or financial controls background
- Experience working on finance systems migrations or platform consolidation programmes
