Location: Commutable from Loughborough, Coalville, Ashby, Swadlincote, Burton, NW Leics areas
Working arrangements: Hybrid M-Wed in office, Thurs-Fri from home
Duration: minimum 9months initially
About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Interim/Temporary Assistant Financial Accountant to join the finance team of a leading business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to gain exposure to business transformation and finance integration projects. The successful candidate will support the Financial Accounting team with month-end reporting, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls while working closely with colleagues across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting month-end close activities
- Posting journals including accruals, prepayments, payroll and depreciation
- Maintaining fixed asset records
- Preparing and reconciling intercompany balances
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations
- Daily cashbook postings for receipts and payments
- Investigating and resolving outstanding cash items
- Completing monthly bank reconciliations across multiple currency accounts
- Processing payroll payment set-up
- Assisting with VAT reporting and VAT journals
- Providing information to support external audits
- Supporting finance improvement initiatives and business integration projects as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in a similar Assistant Accountant, Accountant or Finance Officer position
- AAT qualification or be currently studying AAT or other finance qualification would be advantageous
- Experience with:
- Bank reconciliations
- Journal postings
- Month-end accounting
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Cashbook processing
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems, ideally JDE
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- The ability to build effective working relationships across different teams
- A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities
