Financial Controller
Derby | £70,000 – £80,000 + benefits | Hybrid
The business
This is a well-established, privately owned manufacturing and distribution business based in Derby.
The role
You’ll be the business’s Financial Controller, reporting into senior leadership. You’ll take ownership of financial control and reporting, and lead a small, experienced team.
Key responsibilities:
- Running a tight month-end close and producing accurate, timely management accounts
- Owning stock control and reporting, including valuation, provisioning, stock counts and reconciliations
- Analysing stock performance, ageing and margins, and turning the numbers into commercial insight
- Leading the year-end process and managing the relationship with the external auditors
- Managing cash flow, working capital and the balance sheet
- Improving processes, controls and systems
- Developing and supporting the transactional finance team
About you
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Strong experience of stock: valuation, control and analysis in a manufacturing, distribution or wholesale business
- Confident with month end, management accounts and year end
- Hands-on, and comfortable in a growing finance function with a lot to improve
- A people manager who builds good relationships across the business
- Able to work onsite in Derby 4 days a week
