Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Interim Financial Controller to join our partner on a temporary basis, primarily to support the team throughout the year-end and audit process. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. This role offers a hybrid working policy, with some office presence required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Year-End Coordination: Manage and oversee year-end procedures, collaborating with internal teams and external auditors to ensure compliance with statutory obligations. Serve as the main liaison for auditors, facilitating a seamless audit process and addressing inquiries effectively.
  • Proactive Leadership: Confidently direct and manage the day-to-day operations of the finance and accounting function, providing leadership and guidance to advance the Finance team, and contributing to organisational growth. Continuously evaluate and enhance current accounting systems and processes, recommending and implementing improved methods of operation.
  • Hands-on Financial Management: Be responsible for the finalisation of accurate and timely Financial Statements and reports, ensuring completeness of financial records, accounting entries, and ledger maintenance. Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance financial operations.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts to ensure financial stability and adherence to organisational goals. Analyse financial data and KPIs to provide insights to support strategic decision-making, working closely with the senior management team.
  • Undertake any additional reasonable duties as required by the role.

Key Requirements:

  • Ideally ACA / ACCA qualified, or demonstrably QBE.
  • Audit background would be highly advantageous.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in a comparable role within a manufacturing or engineering company of similar size, ideally AIM listed or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of technical accounting (including IFRS and PLC reporting) with extensive expertise in preparing audited financial statements.
  • Highly detail oriented, analytical, and skilled in problem solving on a timely basis.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, fostering effective collaboration with the immediate team, broader business, and senior stakeholders.
