Job Description

Position: Finance Assistant
Location: Birmingham
Pay Rate: £12 - £14 per hour (up to £27,000 annually)
Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Macildowie is pleased to partner with a prominent organisation in Birmingham to recruit a Finance Assistant.

Job Purpose:

As a Finance Assistant, you will support the finance team in managing the organisation's financial operations. You will gain hands-on experience in various financial tasks and contribute to maintaining efficient financial processes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enter financial transactions into the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with the processing of invoices, ensuring they are authorised and coded correctly.
  • Prepare and process supplier payments, including BACS and cheque payments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and address any discrepancies
  • Prepare and issue customer invoices promptly.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations, ensuring that receipts are correctly allocated
  • Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including posting journal entries.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures, including the preparation of necessary reports and reconciliations.
  • Help maintain accurate financial records and ensure they are easily accessible for audit purposes

Experience and Skills Required:

Essential:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage routine administrative tasks and maintain accurate records.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced finance team.
  • Attention to detail and good organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

  • Part-qualified in a finance-related qualification (e.g., AAT).
  • Experience with financial systems and software.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal office hours if needed.
