Macildowie are working with this client based in Milton Keynes who are looking to appoint a Part-Time Credit Controller to join their finance team on a temporary basis.



  • Part-Time Credit Controller - Temporary Position - 3 Month Position
  • Part-Time (approx 2½-3 days per week)
  • Office-based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes

The Role

As Credit Controller, you will be responsible for managing debtor and credit control activities, ensuring that payments from customers are received on time and that the company's cash flow is protected. The role is part-time (2½-3 days per week), stepping in to support the wider finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and chase overdue customer invoices; reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
  • Liaise with customers to resolve payment issues, discrepancies or disputes
  • Raise credit notes / statements; ensure accurate record keeping of credit transactions
  • Reconcile customer accounts and statements; investigate and resolve mismatches
  • Work closely with sales / contracts teams to ensure new accounts have good credit terms, and that credit limits are adhered to
  • Prepare management reports on debtors, late payments, aging, etc.
  • Support month-end processes relating to receivables as required

Your Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in credit control / accounts receivable (ideally at least 1-2 years)
  • Strong communication skills: able to negotiate and maintain positive relationships with customers
  • Excellent attention to detail, good organisational skills, and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Proficiency with accounting / finance software (e.g. Sage 50 or similar)
  • Confidence with reconciliations, statements, and resolving discrepancies

Desirable:

  • Experience within construction, refurbishment or maintenance sectors
  • Familiarity with credit control reporting metrics (DSO, aging, cash flow impact)
