Job Role - Finance Assistant
Location - New Basford, Nottingham
Salary - £30,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience)
Type - Permanent, full-time, office-based

Macildowie are delighted to be working with a successful and growing business based in New Basford, who are looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join their friendly and collaborative finance team.

Reporting into the Finance Manager, this is a varied and hands-on role that offers excellent exposure across multiple areas of finance - ideal for someone looking to progress towards an Assistant Accountant position in the future.

You'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day Purchase and Sales Ledgers, supporting with Payroll preparation, and assisting with reconciliations and Profit & Loss reporting. The business operates across 2 divisions giving you the opportunity to get involved in the full finance cycle.

Responsibilities:

• Full management of the Purchase Ledger for 1 division
• Supporting with Sales Ledger, including raising invoices and credit control when required
• Assisting with monthly and weekly payroll runs using Sage
• Managing postings and reconciliations within SAP
• Supporting the Finance Manager with month-end processes, including P&L and WIP calculations
• Assisting with audit preparation and general finance administration
• Providing holiday cover across finance functions as needed

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a similar Finance Assistant or Ledger-based role
• Good understanding of Purchase and Sales Ledger processes
• Experience supporting payroll would be advantageous
• Confident Excel and accounting systems user (SAP experience desirable)
• AAT qualification or actively studying towards it preferred
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and a proactive approach
• Culturally aligned, team-oriented, and driven to develop within finance
