Finance Manager / Project Finance Manager
Location: Nottingham (Hybrid)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: 4 days on site initially, reducing to 3 days once established
The Opportunity
We are recruiting a Finance Manager / Project Finance Manager for a well-established international organisation operating within the industrial services and equipment sector. The business supports a broad customer base across logistics, manufacturing, and materials handling, with a strong emphasis on operational excellence, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement.
This is a high-impact role combining core financial control with significant project and development work. It will suit a qualified or part-qualified finance professional who enjoys improving models, strengthening controls, and partnering with the wider business to drive performance.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Finance
- Support the month-end close process as required
- Produce and review balance sheet reconciliations
- Analyse profit and loss accounts to ensure results are accurate and representative of performance
- Train and mentor junior members of the finance team
- Produce clean, automated reporting directly from system outputs
- Support internal and external audit processes
Development and Project Work
- Build sales models to support budgeting and forecasting
- Build and roll out P&L models for budgeting and forecasting
- Build and roll out balance sheet models (leveraging existing frameworks)
The underlying principle of all development work is to simplify existing models, introduce appropriate controls, and ensure all links between models are robust, transparent, and reliable. Models must:
- Allow multi-user access
- Be easy to build and refresh from monthly trial balance actuals
- Incorporate all required reporting metrics
- Allow for the overlay of accounting or regulatory changes
Ad Hoc and Business Partnering
- Engage with stakeholders across the business on ad hoc queries and investigations
- Provide financial insight to support profitability and commercial decision-making
- Contribute to data-focused projects and initiatives
- Support the wider finance team during peak or high-pressure periods
About You
- Strong technical accounting and financial analysis capability
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, with a focus on clarity and control
- Experience improving or simplifying financial models and processes
- Comfortable working with stakeholders outside of finance
- Able to balance routine finance activity with project-based work
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and resilient in a fast-paced environment
