Job Description

A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join a busy and collaborative Notingham team for a 3-6 months contract.

The role is based in Nottingham, with the expectation to be on site 2-3 days a week, and is paying between £15 - £18 per hour plus holiday pay.

This is a dynamic role providing expert advice and support to managers on a wide range of complex and sensitive employee relations matters.

You will be expected to work autonomously, managing a portfolio of ER cases, and advising on employment law, terms and conditions, and policies. The role also includes involvement in organisational change programmes, TUPE, policy development, and the delivery of ER-related training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality and timely advice on a wide range of complex ER issues including conduct, capability, sickness absence, grievances, bullying and harassment, and performance management.
  • Support and lead on ER casework including investigations, hearings, and redeployment processes.
  • Advise on and facilitate organisational change, TUPE transfers, and consultation processes.
  • Provide procedural advice at hearings and meetings, including accurate note-taking and drafting of supporting documentation.
  • Develop and deliver training to line managers on ER policies and practices such as performance, attendance, and investigation handling.
  • Participate in job evaluation and job matching panels
  • Contribute to the development and review of HR/ER policies and procedures.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with managers, staff side representatives and internal stakeholders to support a partnership-based approach.
  • Analyse ER data and produce relevant reports to support workforce planning and governance.

About You

  • CIPD qualified or equivalent experience in HR/ER advisory roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and HR policies
  • Proven experience in independently managing a range of complex ER cases.
  • Confident advising on organisational change and supporting consultation meetings.
  • Able to work across multiple locations and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
  • Experience in working in a unionised environment is desirable.
