HR Manager
Job Description
HR Manager
£50,000 + benefits | Onsite in Leicester | 4 days considered (FT needed in future)
Fast-growth SME | Manufacturing | Multi-site
Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a hands-on, high-impact role where you can genuinely shape a growing organisation?
We're supporting a thriving manufacturing SME experiencing significant growth. With expansion across multiple sites and a brand-new Operations structure, we're now looking for an experienced HR Manager to take ownership of the HR function and develop it for the future.
You'll lead and mentor an HR Officer who has huge potential and a brilliant attitude but needs a strong coach to help build her capability. Your role will balance operational ER and compliance with the opportunity to move into strategic, value-adding projects.
This is an opportunity to step into a business that wants HR to be commercial, pragmatic and embedded-not box-ticking.
What you'll be doing
Leadership & Mentoring
- Daily oversight and coaching for the HR Officer (weekly 1:1s)
- Develop capability, confidence and judgement
- Quality-check HR outputs and correspondence
Employee Relations & People Support
- Act as the escalation point for all ER matters
- Provide calm, commercially-minded advice to managers
- Help the HR Officer grow into handling more complex cases
Strategy, Projects & Growth
- Work closely with the new Head of Operations as the business scales
- Support organisational design, workforce planning and future projects
- Improve systems, data quality, governance and HR processes
HR Operations
- Policy, SOPs, audits and compliance (without being overly rigid)
- Recruitment, onboarding, L&D, performance, retention
- HR analytics, reporting and insights
What we're looking for
Must-haves:
CIPD Level 7 (non-negotiable)
Strong generalist background with breadth and depth
Credibility, gravitas and the ability to influence
A natural coach and mentor-someone who enjoys developing others
Manufacturing or SME experience
Ability to balance legal compliance with commercial pragmatism
