HR & Recruitment Officer - Interim - initially 3 Months - Derby
Derby City Centre
Full-time (35 hours per week) | Part-time also considered
Hybrid working (primarily office-based, up to 2 days from home)
£15 - £17 per hour
Macildowie are working with this client based in Derby to recruit a HR & Recruitment Officer on a 3-month interim opportunity. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established professional services organisation, supporting a workforce of approximately 250 employees within a collaborative and people-focused environment.
This role sits within a small HR team and reports directly to the Head of HR. It offers broad exposure across recruitment, onboarding, HR advisory support and HR systems administration.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on, generalist HR role suited to someone who enjoys variety and thrives in a busy environment. You will provide proactive and customer-focused support across the full employee lifecycle, acting as a first point of contact for HR queries while escalating more complex matters appropriately.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment campaigns
Draft job descriptions and adverts alongside hiring managers
Manage vacancy postings across digital platforms and job boards
Oversee candidate communications and application tracking
Coordinate interviews and support panel processes
Conduct pre-employment checks including right to work, references and qualification verification
Issue offer letters and contracts of employment
Support onboarding and induction planning
Maintain a positive and professional candidate experience
HR Advisory & Employee Relations
Provide first-line advice on HR policies and procedures
Support casework including return-to-work meetings, absence management and investigations
Monitor absence levels and track triggers
Assist with resignation and exit processes
Ensure awareness of current employment legislation and compliance
HR Administration & Systems
Maintain and update the HR system (ADP)
Process starters, leavers and contractual changes
Manage annual leave calculations and family leave records
Produce HR reports and support payroll processes
Ensure accurate and GDPR-compliant record keeping
- About You
You will already have experience in a HR Officer, HR Coordinator or HR Administrator role and be comfortable providing first-line HR advice and are immediately available.
You will bring:
Experience supporting recruitment and onboarding
Knowledge of absence management processes
Experience maintaining HR systems and employee records
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
A professional, proactive and approachable communication style
