Job Description

HR Manager / HR Advisor – Interim

Hinckley, Leicestershire | c.26 hours per week | September–December | c.£22p/h

Build the HR function. Put the foundations in place. Make it work.

A fast-growing SME in Hinckley is looking for an experienced HR Manager to help bring structure and consistency to its HR function.

This is an opportunity to come into an evolving environment, understand what's currently in place, create the right processes and documentation, and then take ownership of HR going forward.

The role

You’ll be responsible for establishing and improving the day-to-day HR infrastructure across the business, including:

  • Reviewing and aligning contracts and policies
  • Reviewing and updating the employee handbook
  • Creating effective onboarding, induction and offboarding processes
  • Standardising HR documentation and processes
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records
  • Managing return-to-work processes
  • Supporting recruitment activity
  • Processing contractual changes, promotions and salary amendments
  • Supporting flexible working requests
  • Advising on employee relations, absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance matters
  • Monitoring probation periods and supporting performance reviews
  • Supporting training and development activity
  • Ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation and GDPR
  • Producing HR reports and management information
  • Identifying opportunities to improve and standardise HR processes

About you

You'll be an experienced HR professional who is comfortable working independently and getting stuck into the detail.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous HR advisory/management experience
  • Good knowledge of UK employment legislation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Experience with contracts, policies, employee relations and absence
  • Experience supporting recruitment and/or training
  • The confidence to work in a growing SME where not everything is currently standardised

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who can look at what's there, work out what needs changing, put sensible processes in place and make them stick.

The opportunity

This is initially a September to December interim assignment, working around 26 hours per week.

There is potential for the position to develop into a longer-term or permanent opportunity as the business continues to grow.

If you're an HR professional who enjoys building, improving and making a tangible difference, this could be an excellent opportunity to make your mark.
