Procurement Category Buyer - Up to £42,000 - Northampton
Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm - Hybrid Working Available

Macildowie Procurement, Supply Chain & Logistics has recently partnered with an organisation based in Northampton to recruit a Procurement Category Buyer to join a thriving and fast paced purchasing department.

The key objectives will be to support the senior purchasing team with sourcing duties including collaborating with new suppliers and on-boarding as well as managing an end-to-end procurement cycle.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate procurement records and delivering supplier and inventory reports for stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement collaborative plans with suppliers to meet business objectives.
  • Mitigate risk in the supply chain though dual sourcing, buffer stock agreements and identifying alternative solutions.
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end sourcing process for key materials and services.
  • Develop and execute a strategic procurement plan to ensure the supply of high-quality materials at the best possible cost.
  • Negotiate and agree on supplier commercial terms including lead times, auditing and rebates.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable and long term source of supply
  • Evaluate and select new suppliers to get the best match for the business need.
  • Benchmark, monitor and audit suppliers on price, quality, delivery and capability criteria.
  • Identify and propose new product opportunities within the categories.


The Candidate

  • Previous experience operating in a Buyer/Senior Buyer/Category Manager role or similar.
  • CIPS accreditation or working towards.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office including Excel.
  • Able to travel to Northampton.
  • Excellent communication skills.
