Assistant Accountant
Job Description
Macildowie are working with a client based in Loughborough to recruit an Assistant Accountant for their finance team. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with an office-based working arrangement.
Our client, a growing organisation has a strong growth trajectory and clear financial targets over the next three years, therefore this role offers excellent exposure and development within a dynamic finance function.
Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business, contributing to accurate reporting and insightful analysis to aid decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting Support
- Assist with accruals, prepayments and journal postings
- Maintain accurate financial ledgers and support month-end close
- Complete bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Transactional Finance
- Manage purchase and sales ledger activities
- Respond to supplier and customer queries
- Maintain the fixed asset register
Budgeting & Analysis
- Assist in budget preparation and forecasting
- Support variance analysis with performance commentary
Compliance
- Assist with VAT returns and statutory reporting
Key Requirements
- Studying towards or part-qualified (AAT / ACCA / CIMA)
- Previous experience within a finance role
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems
- Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and proactive mindset
