Credit Controller

East Staffordshire | Up to £36,000 per annum

Macildowie are working with their longstanding client in East Staffordshire to recruit an experienced Credit Controller on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established financial services business supporting customers across a range of industries.

Working within a busy collections team, you will take ownership of a portfolio of customer accounts, proactively managing outstanding debt, reducing arrears and maintaining positive customer relationships.

The successful candidate will have a proven background in credit control, excellent communication skills and the confidence to manage customer accounts independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

The Role

As Credit Controller, your responsibilities will include:

• Proactively managing a portfolio of customer accounts and collecting outstanding debt.

• Contacting customers by telephone and email to resolve overdue payments.

• Allocating incoming payments accurately and reconciling customer accounts.

• Investigating payment discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution.

• Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers.

• Monitoring outstanding balances and supporting the reduction of early arrears.

• Providing management updates and producing MI reports where required.

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer account records.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate:

• Proven experience in a Credit Control position.

• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.

• Knowledge of creditworthiness and credit monitoring procedures.

• Confidence in managing multiple customer accounts and prioritising workloads.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• Good Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using bespoke systems.

• A professional and confident telephone manner.

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience in consumer debt collection, trade-to-trade collections or asset finance would be advantageous.

Previous experience within the construction, agriculture, plant hire or equipment finance sectors would also be beneficial, although this is not essential.

• Employer pension contribution of 15% of salary.
