Job Description

Job Title: Payroll Officer
Location: Derbyshire
Salary: Up to £32,000
Type: Full Time, Permanent

We are seeking a Payroll Officer to join a growing and dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the busy payroll function and assisting with the transition to a more efficient and streamlined payroll and HR system.

You will manage payroll for over 1,000 employees, ensuring that payroll is processed accurately and on time. As a Payroll Officer, you will play an important role in improving processes, managing employee queries, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process monthly payroll data
  • Manage multiple payrolls with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate with managers to resolve payroll queries
  • Process starters, leavers, and payroll changes
  • Ensure accurate handling of sick pay, maternity, and unpaid leave
  • Perform post-payroll checks and set up payment runs
  • Assist in payroll system improvements and reporting
  • Maintain HR systems and payroll documentation

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of end-to-end payroll processes
  • Very strong Excel skills
  • Experience with HR systems and bank payment setups
  • Detail-oriented mind-set and strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities
  • Good knowledge of payroll legislation

Soft Skills:

  • Highly organised with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Proactive and problem-solving approach
  • Collaborative team player with great interpersonal skills
