Payroll Team Leader | Ongoing Temp | North Leicester | Up to £20ph | Hybrid Working
Macildowie are delighted to be working with a well-established organisation in North Leicester to recruit a Temporary Payroll Team Leader. This key interim role has been created to provide day-to-day leadership to the payroll function while the Payroll Manager focuses on delivering a new payroll system implementation.
You'll be joining a close-knit team of two Payroll Administrators and taking responsibility for two in-house payrolls, all currently processed using Sage Payroll.
The role offers hybrid working, with 3 days per week based on-site, providing the balance of flexibility and hands-on team engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Support
- Lead and support two Payroll Administrators, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of payroll tasks.
- Provide structure, direction, and motivation during a period of operational change.
- Be the primary escalation point for internal payroll queries.
Payroll Oversight
- Manage end-to-end processing of two in-house payrolls using Sage Payroll.
- Ensure compliance with current payroll legislation, HMRC reporting, and company policies.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy and meet all relevant deadlines.
Stakeholder Engagement & Process Improvement
- Liaise with HR, Finance, and external partners to ensure joined-up processes.
- Support line managers with payroll-related queries and responsibilities.
- Contribute to the delivery of change initiatives and process improvements.

This role would suit a Payroll Team Leader or Senior Payroll Officer with experience managing small teams, overseeing in-house payrolls, and using Sage Payroll in a hands-on environment.
