Payroll Senior | North Leicester | Up to £35k | Hybrid Working | Temp to Perm
Macildowie are pleased to be recruiting for a Temporary to Permanent Senior Payroll professional to join a collaborative payroll function based in North Leicester. This hands-on role has been created to provide continuity and support while the Payroll Manager focuses on delivering a major systems implementation.
This hybrid position offers the flexibility of remote working combined with regular on-site presence, supporting both operational delivery and strong team collaboration.
We're looking for someone with solid, end-to-end payroll experience who can hit the ground running and help steer the team through a time of operational transition.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Support & Oversight
- Support day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Accurately process complex in-house payrolls across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with varied shift patterns, pay enhancements, and contractual differences; support the oversight and reconciliation of payrolls run by a third-party provider.
- Act as a senior point of contact for payroll queries.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC and internal reporting requirements.
Team & Stakeholder Coordination
- Provide support and guidance to the payroll team during system changes.
- Liaise with internal departments and external providers to ensure smooth coordination.
- Assist in training new managers on payroll procedures.
- Contribute to process improvements and the delivery of wider change initiatives.
Required Experience:
We are looking for a confident payroll professional who can operate independently and provide hands-on support from day one. You will need:
- Proven end-to-end payroll experience, ideally in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing multiple payroll cycles, including weekly and monthly pay runs.
- Exposure to variable pay elements, including hourly rates, shift patterns, enhancements, and statutory payments.
- Strong knowledge of HMRC regulations, pension auto-enrolment, SSP, SMP, and other statutory deductions.
- Ability to interpret complex data and resolve payroll queries accurately and efficiently.
- Previous experience working in a multi-site or care sector environment would be a significant advantage.
- Experience working with in-house systems and liaising with outsourced payroll providers.
- Strong Excel skills and a detail-oriented, proactive approach.
