Job Description

Customer Onboarding Risk Specialist
Langar, Nottinghamshire | £33,000 - £35,000 + benefits | Hybrid working (3 days in office incl. Wednesdays)

Macildowie are exclusively partnered with a well-established and highly regulated asset finance provider to recruit a Customer Onboarding Risk Specialist. This newly created role is ideal for someone who thrives in compliance-heavy environments, particularly within commercial or business banking.

This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of UK high-risk onboarding processes for a dual-regulated financial institution with complex client profiles. You'll be the UK-based compliance contact within a small, growing team - playing a key role in assessing high-risk applications and ensuring adherence to both UK and EU standards.

🔍 Key Responsibilities

  • Review and process high-risk customer account applications (PEPs, complex structures, high-risk geographies).

  • Act as the SME for UK AML/CTF regulations (POCA, JMLSG, FATF, MLR 2017).

  • Draft EDD reports and escalate AML concerns as needed.

  • Collaborate with internal teams in the UK and across Europe.

  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and propose process improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong working knowledge of UK AML/CTF legislation.

  • Experience working in a commercial banking or financial compliance role.

  • Familiarity with tools like World-Check, Dow Jones, LexisNexis.

  • Ability to analyse complex customer structures and communicate risks clearly.

  • A proactive, confident communicator - comfortable liaising with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Professional certification (e.g., ICA, CAMS) is desirable.

🔒 Why Join?

  • You'll play a pivotal role in building UK-specific compliance capability.

  • Opportunity to work across borders in a dynamic, well-supported function.

  • Open-plan office, collaborative culture, and strong longer-term growth plans.
