Job Description

Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for supporting meaningful work? We are looking for a proactive Finance Assistant to join a small, dedicated team at a well-established not-for-profit organisation based in Milton Keynes.

The Role:

As Finance Assistant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and accurate day-to-day running of the organisation's financial operations. Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, your responsibilities will span across bookkeeping, reconciliations, invoicing, and supporting internal teams with financial information and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for
  • Invoice Processing: Process sales and purchase invoices, maintain accurate ledgers.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform daily bank reconciliations, including multi-currency transactions.
  • Expenses Management: Process weekly expense claims and credit card transactions in line with company policy.
  • Monthly Reporting: Prepare monthly reconciliations and support management reporting.
  • Credit Control: Manage credit control activities including cash allocation and debtor reporting.
  • Cross-Department Support: Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate recording of financial data.
  • VAT: Preparation of quarterly VAT returns

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualifications: AAT qualified or equivalent bookkeeping/accounting qualification preferred but relevant experience is most important
  • Experience: Experience working with varied accounting software; knowledge of Dynamics NAV or Business Central is a strong advantage.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Confidence in Excel and financial systems
  • A customer service mindset when handling internal and external queries

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: £28,000 - £35,000 per annum
  • 25 days holiday per year plus statutory holidays
