Are you an experienced Payroll professional with an eye for detail and a passion for process improvement? This opportunity offers a chance to step into a highly dynamic education and childcare group at a pivotal time as they bring their payroll function fully in-house.

Job Title: Payroll Assistant
Salary: £32,000 - £35,000
Employment Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid (2 days from home)
Hours: 8:30am-5:00pm or 9:30am-5:30pm (30-minute lunch)

With 32 schools under different entities and over 1,300 employees, the successful candidate will play a vital role in managing complex payrolls across multiple monthly dates. You'll be relied on to oversee the end-to-end payroll process, manage pension contributions and auto-enrolment (NEST), and handle a wide variety of payroll queries including variances, SSP, and OSP calculations.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have demonstrable end-to-end payroll experience
  • Be confident with pension processes and manual SSP/OSP calculations
  • Ideally have experience within a bureau or similarly complex multi-entity payroll environment
  • Be comfortable working under pressure, handling high volumes, and navigating change
  • Be a strong team player who can be relied upon to manage payroll independently during transition periods

Desirable:

  • Experience with ADP and/or Suzan modules
  • CIPP qualification (not essential)
  • Experience working within a nursery or education environment
