Payroll Accounts Assistant

Location: Nottingham, NG8
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 (depending on experience)
Working Pattern: Full-time, office-based (09:00 - 17:15) with flexible hours available

Macildowie is delighted to be partnering with a well-established, market-leading services business to recruit a Payroll Accounts Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation with a strong national presence and clear progression opportunities.

The Role

Reporting into the Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the accurate and timely delivery of payroll while also assisting with wider accounts duties. This is a varied position suited to someone with payroll experience who is keen to develop their career further within a growing finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Payroll Manager with weekly and two fortnightly payrolls (processed on alternate weeks)
  • Processing new starters, timesheets, pensions, and statutory deductions (AEOs, fines, etc.)
  • Processing pension contributions
  • Maintaining employee and contract details on the time and attendance system (Timegate)
  • Collaborating with colleagues to improve payroll and finance processes
  • Assisting the Accounts team, including registering purchase invoices and sending for authorisation

About You

  • Previous experience in a payroll role is essential
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn
  • Willing to take on additional responsibilities as the role develops
