Financial Controller
Location: Northampton (Office-based with flexibility)
Salary: £65,000-£75,000 + bonus
Working Pattern: Primarily office-based with up to one day per week from home
Macildowie are partnering with a well-established brand based in Northampton to recruit a Financial Controller for a growing, internationally recognised organisation operating within the technology and manufacturing sector.
This is a high-profile leadership role offering genuine progression towards Finance Director. The Financial Controller will work closely with the Managing Director and executive leadership team, providing financial insight, operational support and strategic oversight during an exciting period of international growth.
The organisation is a highly innovative business with a strong reputation for quality and performance within its specialist industry. As a result, this role offers exposure across finance, operations, supply chain and international distribution.
The successful candidate will be a commercially minded finance leader who enjoys operating in a fast-paced environment and working closely with operational teams across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
Own the month-end close process and deliver accurate management accounts and KPI reporting
Provide financial insight and performance reporting to the executive team and board
Lead short-term cash forecasting and liquidity planning
Manage statutory reporting and coordinate external audit processes
Ensure financial controls, accounting systems and governance frameworks remain robust
Finance Leadership
Lead and develop the finance team, maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity
Ensure finance processes across purchase-to-pay, order-to-cash, payroll and reporting cycles are effective
Drive process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency
Commercial & Operational Support
Partner with operational, sales and product teams to support new product launches and costing
Provide financial analysis to support business planning and forecasting
Contribute to strategic decision-making alongside senior leadership
Supply Chain Oversight
Line-manage the Supply Chain Manager and support operational targets including inventory and delivery performance
Oversee international supply chain logistics with global manufacturing partners
Support inventory planning, stock accuracy and cost control across the distribution network
About You
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
Experience operating at Financial Controller level within a product-based or manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of inventory accounting and costing
Advanced Excel and analytical capability
Strong communication skills with the ability to partner with senior stakeholders
