We are recruiting for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a well-established business in Lutterworth on a 3-month temporary assignment.

This is a standalone position, taking full ownership of the end-to-end payroll process for approximately 300 employees, covering both salaried and hourly shift-based staff with varying rates of pay.

This role would suit someone confident working independently, who enjoys managing the full payroll cycle and being the go-to person for all payroll queries.

The role

You will be solely responsible for the complete payroll function, including:

  • End-to-end payroll processing for circa 300 employees
  • Weekly and monthly payroll runs
  • Processing starters, leavers and changes
  • Calculating SSP, SMP (maternity), holiday pay and other statutory payments
  • Managing hourly, shift-based and salaried payrolls
  • Timesheets, overtime and shift premiums
  • Handling payroll queries directly with employees and managers
  • HMRC compliance and submissions
  • Payroll reporting and reconciliations
  • Using the MorePay payroll system

About you

We're looking for someone who can step in and take ownership from day one.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience running payroll end-to-end independently
  • Experience managing payrolls of 250-300+ employees
  • Strong knowledge of statutory payments and payroll legislation
  • Experience with complex hourly/shift-based environments
  • Experience with MorePay (or similar payroll systems)
  • High attention to detail and confidence working autonomously

What's on offer

  • £28,000-£35,000 pro rata
  • Immediate start
  • 3-month temporary contract
  • Full ownership and autonomy
  • Consistent daytime hours
  • On-site parking

If you're an experienced payroll professional available at short notice and comfortable running a standalone payroll function, we'd love to hear from you.
