Finance Manager - Central Reporting & Controls
Salary: £60,000-£65,000 + benefits
Location: Nottingham (hybrid - 2-3 days in office)
A large, PE-backed UK services group with revenues in excess of £400m is strengthening its central finance function to support continued scale and operational complexity.
This newly shaped role offers the opportunity to lead central management accounting, group-wide controls, and reporting, combining technical ownership with data insight and people leadership in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
The role
Reporting to the Head of Management Accounts, the Finance Manager - Central will lead the central team and take ownership of several critical month-end, consolidation, and control processes across the Group.
This is a hands-on Finance Manager role, with real influence over reporting quality, financial governance, and cost efficiency.
Key responsibilities
Central & overheads accounting
- Own group overheads accounting, ensuring accurate accruals, prepayments, and property costs across service lines and regions
- Review and validate central postings impacting gross margin, including wages, revenue accruals, and holiday pay
- Calculate and post depreciation and amortisation in line with Group policy
- Lead capex and exceptionals reporting, including board-level analysis and project trackers
- Produce group-wide data on hours, wage rates, and pay vs charged hours to support margin and efficiency analysis
- Deliver clear, insightful reporting to senior operational stakeholders
- Provide ad-hoc analysis to support cost-saving and efficiency initiatives
- Prepare the monthly group consolidation and consolidation adjustments
- Own key group data files underpinning service-line and consolidated reporting
- Prepare and review VAT returns for relevant entities
- Act as a finance partner to Service Directors, providing insight, challenge, and cost-saving recommendations
- Track and report savings and initiatives for internal and investor reporting
- Maintain and improve finance data quality and master data structures
- Support the transition from Excel-heavy analysis to Power BI and automated reporting
- Lead balance sheet reviews, reconciliations, and journal governance
- Act as a key audit contact and support the resolution of audit findings
- Embed strong financial controls and a continuous improvement culture
- Line-manage and develop two Central Management Accountants, setting objectives and driving high performance
About you
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong post-qualification experience in management accounting, central finance, or financial control
- Background in multi-entity, service-based and/or PE-backed environments
- Proven experience with overheads accounting, capex, accruals, prepayments, and property costs
- Exposure to group consolidation, intercompany accounting, VAT, balance sheet control, and audit
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or BI tools highly desirable
- Confident leader with strong stakeholder engagement and a commercial mindset
