Credit Underwriter - Asset Finance
Location: Langar (Hybrid - 3 Days Office / 2 Days Remote)
Salary: £34,000 - £42,000 + Bonus
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm
Macildowie are proud to be working exclusively with a leading finance provider to recruit two Credit Underwriters as part of a small, high-performing team based in Nottinghamshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity for professionals with a background in asset finance or commercial banking who are looking to take on a varied, analytical role with direct exposure to high-value underwriting and senior stakeholders.
About the Role
As a Credit Underwriter, you'll evaluate moderately complex asset finance proposals, combining financial analysis with commercial judgement. You'll play a key part in decision-making on credit applications, while supporting dealer networks and internal stakeholders to drive strong credit performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess asset finance proposals, conducting financial analysis on customer accounts
- Make independent credit decisions or escalate for higher-level review
- Manage customer portfolios and annual credit line renewals
- Engage directly with dealers, field sales, and internal teams
- Support process improvement projects and mentor junior team members
- Contribute to maintaining an impressive ~99% approval rate through risk mitigation and strong stakeholder collaboration
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates with:
- Experience in credit underwriting within asset finance or commercial/corporate banking
- Strong financial analysis skills and a sound understanding of risk and balance sheet assessment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - confident working cross-functionally
- A proactive, solutions-driven mindset with strong attention to detail
Working Model
- Hybrid: 3 days in the office - Wednesday is the fixed day
- 2 days remote
- 37.5 hours per week, standard working hours (9am-5pm)
