Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + Health care + Performance Bonus
Location: Nottingham | Industry: Manufacturing / Production

A well-established manufacturing business is seeking a skilled and results-oriented Operations Manager to take ownership of daily operations within a fast-paced production environment. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong background in Lean principles, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to drive both efficiency and team performance.

Overview of the Role:

The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient day-to-day manufacturing activities, implementing Lean practices to streamline processes, and leading cross-functional teams toward operational excellence. This is a critical leadership role with broad influence across production, quality, and business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Oversight: Manage the daily operations of the manufacturing facility, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality targets are consistently met.

  • Lean Implementation: Champion Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to optimise processes, reduce waste, and support ongoing operational improvements.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop production teams, cultivating a high-performance and safety-first culture.

  • Resource Planning: Oversee effective allocation of labour, machinery, and materials, while maintaining control of operational costs.

  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., ISO), and manage quality control processes including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work in close partnership with internal departments such as R&D, Supply Chain, Sales, HR, and Finance to align operations with broader business goals.

  • Performance Analysis: Use data and KPIs to evaluate production output, identify trends, and implement strategies that enhance efficiency and profitability.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven track record in a manufacturing operations environment, ideally with experience in driving Lean transformation initiatives.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a collaborative and motivational approach.

  • Sound understanding of production planning, cost control, and inventory management.

  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities, supported by effective communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Lean or Six Sigma certification (preferred).

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
