Derby | 5 days on site | £32,000 | Study support provided
A well-established and growing multi-site business is looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join its close-knit finance team in Derby. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to take their next step into management accounts. You'll get full study support, hands-on guidance from experienced colleagues, and a clearly defined path to Management Accountant.
The Role
You'll support the preparation of monthly management accounts for a portfolio of sites, learning how the numbers connect to day-to-day site activity and staffing. You'll work on site alongside Management Accountants and Area Managers, building your technical and commercial skills, and you'll take on more ownership as your confidence grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing monthly management accounts for a portfolio of sites, with support and review from experienced Management Accountants
- Help write commentary that explains what's driving the numbers each month
- Support month-end, including posting prepayments, accruals and depreciation
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, building a clear understanding of what sits behind each balance
- Work with Area Managers to understand how site activity and staffing affect the figures
- Get involved in process improvements, new systems and wider finance projects as you develop
What We're Looking For
- Part-qualified or studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA
- Some exposure to month-end, journals or management accounts
- Good Excel skills, with pivot tables and lookups a plus
- An enquiring mind: you like to understand why a number has changed
- Well organised and able to work to deadlines
- Keen to learn, open to feedback and looking to develop your career in management accounting
