About the Role
As a Finance Business Partner, you'll manage the finance relationship across a portfolio of services, working closely with operational teams to deliver high-quality financial support, challenge and insight.
You'll help services make informed decisions, improve financial performance, and contribute to a business-like culture built on accountability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic finance partner to service areas, building strong relationships to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Promote effective financial management and help embed a culture of high performance, commercial awareness, and value for money.
- Provide clear, timely, and accurate financial reporting and analysis to inform service delivery.
- Support the development of real-time financial management tools and capabilities within service teams.
- Lead or contribute to revenue and capital budget setting, in-year forecasting, and medium-term financial planning.
- Assist in year-end closure and the production of the Statement of Accounts, including supporting documentation for external audit.
- Identify and escalate financial risks or opportunities and advise on mitigation strategies.
- Help develop business cases for new initiatives, investments or service changes, providing robust financial input.
- Mentor and support junior finance team members, helping build skills and capacity across the function.
- Provide ad hoc VAT and treasury management support as required.
- Lead financial support for LeisureSK Ltd, including board reporting, budget management and forecasting.
- Use financial systems such as Unit4 and SAGE to deliver accurate financial insight and reporting.
Who We're Looking For
- AAT qualified, fully qualified (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, ACA), or currently studying towards a finance qualification.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders.
- Commercial mindset with experience providing financial insight to support decision-making.
- Confident in budget setting, forecasting, variance analysis, and year-end processes.
- Experience from any sector - including local authority, NHS, education, charity, or private sector - will be considered.
Why This Role?
- Join a values-led organisation with a strong community focus.
- Play a key role in shaping financial performance and service delivery.
- Gain exposure to commercial, strategic, and operational finance.
- Flexible hybrid working - typically 2 days a week in the office.
