Purpose of the Role

The Financial Controller will oversee the financial management, reporting, and compliance of the UK parent company and the financial aspects of European subsidiaries, ensuring accurate consolidation and robust governance across the regional group. This pivotal role provides a unique opportunity to shape financial strategy, improve reporting processes, and support the Managing Director and Group CFO in achieving the business' growth and operational objectives across the UK and Northern Europe.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver accurate monthly management accounts and reporting packs for consolidation.
Liaise with finance teams across Europe to ensure consistent reporting and compliance.
Manage UK payroll, PAYE, VAT returns, and statutory reporting.
Lead the UK audit process and coordinate with auditors across Northern Europe.
Prepare transfer pricing files, royalty payments, and intercompany reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and group accounting standards.
Support FP&A, forecasting, and cashflow reporting for the group.
Maintain internal controls and oversee adherence to corporate governance frameworks.
Manage and develop the UK Accounts Payable function and European finance administration teams.
Support ERP system integration and deliver training where required.
Partner with senior stakeholders to drive financial efficiency and business insight.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience in financial control within a multinational or mid-sized group environment.
Strong grounding in statutory reporting, management accounts, and audit support.
Proven experience working with multi-entity, multi-currency operations (European exposure preferred).
In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
Experience with ERP and consolidation systems (implementation experience desirable).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and cultures.
Commercially astute, detail-oriented, and confident in providing insight to senior management.
Strong experience and understanding of accounting for inventory.
Comfortable with both hands-on operational finance and higher-level strategic input.
Willingness to travel periodically to European offices.
