Purchase Ledger Administrator - Waste Management Industry
Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 per annum
Employment Type: Full-time or Part-time, Permanent
Working Arrangement: Office-based (Melton Mowbray), with flexible start/finish times
Location: Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire

Macildowie are working with this client based in Melton Mowbray to recruit a Purchase Ledger Administrator into their busy finance and operations team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving organisation within the waste management sector, offering a varied role with direct exposure to both finance and customer interaction.

As Purchase Ledger Administrator, you'll play a key role in managing the day-to-day running of the purchase ledger - processing invoices, reconciling costs, and supporting wider administrative tasks. This position sits within a collaborative, multi-skilled team reporting directly to the Financial Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the purchase ledger using Xero and a bespoke internal system

  • Ensure supplier invoices are accurately coded, matched, and processed in line with payment terms

  • Liaise with waste partners, download and validate waste data, and process information accordingly

  • Provide administrative support including email correspondence and occasional phone enquiries

  • Communicate with suppliers and internal customers, ensuring queries are resolved in a timely manner

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and best practices

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working in a purchase ledger or finance administration role (ideally 1-2 years)

  • Familiarity with Xero and/or Dext, with a strong understanding of invoice processing

  • High attention to detail with strong data entry and record-keeping skills

  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
