Accounts Assistant (Full Time)
Location:
Office-based
Hours: Full time (flexible start between approx. 8am-10am)
Salary: Up to £28,000 (depending on experience)
Reports to: Finance Controller

About the role

We are a growing food distribution business supplying restaurants across the UK. Due to continued growth and a team change, we are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day finance function and allow the Finance Controller to focus on management accounts and business improvement.

This is a hands-on role in a small team, ideal for someone who enjoys variety and working in a fast-paced, growing business.

Key responsibilities

  • Processing supplier invoices (around 20 per day)
  • Posting expenses and credit card transactions
  • Bank reconciliations and daily payment allocations
  • Supporting weekly payment runs (approx. £80k per week)
  • Maintaining accurate records in the finance system
  • General finance admin and ad-hoc support to the Finance Controller

The role involves a fair amount of manual processing, so accuracy and attention to detail are essential.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance assistant role
  • Comfortable with invoice processing, bank recs, and transactional finance
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • Happy working in a small business where tasks can vary
  • Confident using finance systems (experience with OrderWise, Sage, Xero, or similar helpful)
  • Reliable, proactive, and willing to learn

This role is not suitable for entry-level candidates or graduates with no experience.
