HR Advisor
Location: Beaumont Leys (On-site only)
Contract: 12-Month Fixed Term
Salary: £33,000 to £35,000 per annum
Working Pattern: Full-time, no hybrid working

Macildowie is proud to be working in partnership with a valued client based in Beaumont Leys, who are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join their team on an initial 12-month fixed term contract.

As first port of call for People related matters you will act as an advisor to line managers as they lead their teams through change and enhance colleague engagement and performance. You will support with recruitment, talent management, succession planning, employee relations, performance management, absence management, recognition, reward, and benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the People team to deliver on our purpose of supporting and empowering colleagues. We aim to foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed and has opportunities to grow, improve their prospects, and reach their full potential.

Partner with managers across the business to develop a values-led culture, where performance is delivered with people at the heart of decisions and a consistent focus is placed on a positive colleague experience.

Provide commercially focused and practical advice to line managers on policies, procedures, and employment-related matters. Proactively identify risks and opportunities to ensure decisions align with the organisation’s values and ways of working.

Act as a key representative of the People function by engaging managers in the planning and implementation of people initiatives. Support and influence activity that enhances colleague engagement and development, particularly during critical decision-making.

Contribute to the execution of the People strategy by ensuring people-related activities throughout the employment lifecycle are aligned with business goals and deliver value to both the organisation and its colleagues. Support key projects and strategic initiatives to embed effective ways of working.

Take responsibility for additional projects, tasks, or work streams that contribute to the successful delivery of people-related goals and the broader strategic People plan.

Support organisational change by providing expertise and guidance on workforce planning, engagement, pay, skills, and capabilities. Help shape and implement effective change processes that uphold company values and maintain a positive colleague experience.

Promote and support diversity, equity, and inclusion by identifying barriers, modelling inclusive behaviours, and encouraging respectful workplace practices.

Champion colleague wellbeing as a driver of engagement, performance, and retention. Promote initiatives that support both the physical and mental wellbeing of the workforce.

Where required, assist in internal communication efforts to help foster a strong organisational culture and ensure key messages are effectively communicated to colleagues.

Support the colleague engagement survey process, driving high participation and engagement with outcomes.

Contribute to meaningful two-way dialogue by supporting the setup and running of consultative forums in line with internal procedures.

Work in partnership with the Learning & Development team to coach managers on team development, support career progression, and ensure colleagues are aware of and can access learning opportunities.

Assist line managers in managing underperformance with a timely, clear, and constructive approach.

Support recruitment activities for both salaried and hourly positions. Partner with the central resourcing team to ensure candidates have a positive experience throughout the recruitment and onboarding process. Conduct exit interviews, analyse trends, and share feedback to inform continuous improvement.

Liaise with agency partners supporting temporary and contract workers, ensuring a smooth onboarding process and a positive working experience.

Provide support in managing employee relations cases such as absence, disciplinary, and grievance processes. Guide and coach managers to handle these cases constructively and sensitively, while maintaining appropriate standards and protocols.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date people data to support decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and demonstrate the impact of People initiatives.

Assist with internal and external audits, including ethical and customer audits. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and address any people-related actions or non-conformances promptly.

Ensure People systems and data are accurate, compliant with legal and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR), and meet customer expectations.

Work collaboratively within the People team to share knowledge and support each other in delivering an efficient and effective People service, aligned with organisational strategy and values.

Stay informed about industry trends, legislative changes, and best practices by engaging with reliable professional sources to continually enhance your own knowledge and expertise.

What we are looking for

Previous experience in an HR Advisor or similar advisory role.
Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across all levels.
Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to manage a busy and varied workload
CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) would be advantageous.

This role is 100% office-based in Beaumont Leys and would suit someone who is keen to be fully immersed in the day-to-day HR operations of a busy team.
