Macildowie are working with a fantastic client, based in Leicester, to recruit an experienced Financial Controller for a well-established and growing organisation..

This is an outstanding opportunity for a qualified finance professional to join a business with a strong heritage, ambitious growth plans and a people-focused culture. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take ownership of the finance function, leading a capable team whilst providing commercial insight and strategic support to the wider leadership team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing financial controls, enhancing reporting processes and supporting the delivery of the company's long-term growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and mentor the finance team
  • Manage all day-to-day accounting operations
  • Deliver weekly financial KPI reporting
  • Oversee monthly management accounts and financial reporting
  • Manage annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Lead cashflow forecasting and optimisation initiatives
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on time
  • Manage VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements
  • Coordinate annual audit activities and external stakeholder relationships
  • Support departmental budget holders with financial performance reviews
  • Partner with senior leadership to identify and mitigate business risks
  • Drive process improvements and reporting efficiencies across the finance function

About You

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA)
  • Proven experience within a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership position
  • Strong management and leadership capability
  • Excellent analytical and commercial decision-making skills
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems knowledge
  • Confident communicating with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience leading change and driving continuous improvement initiatives
