Payroll Supervisor
Job Description
We are supporting a well-established and growing engineering business in Leicestershire with the recruitment of a Payroll Supervisor. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to step into a lead role with responsibility for overseeing end-to-end payroll operations across a varied workforce.
Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 per annum
Employment Type: Permanent
Working Arrangement: Office-based with flexibility (hybrid available after probation)
This role will take ownership of payroll processing and compliance for both weekly and monthly staff, ensuring all payments are accurate and made on time. You'll supervise one payroll administrator and act as the go-to person for payroll queries across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the full end-to-end payroll process for weekly and monthly employees
Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, including RTI submissions
Supervise one payroll administrator, providing guidance and task allocation
Ensure accuracy of timesheets, holiday pay, sick pay, pensions and deductions
Prepare and reconcile payroll journals for the finance team
Liaise with HR and operational teams to ensure payroll accuracy
Act as the key contact for employee payroll queries
Support year-end processes, including P60s and P11Ds
Keep up to date with payroll legislation and system updates
What we're looking for:
Strong experience in a payroll processing role, ideally within engineering, construction, or manufacturing
Confident managing both weekly and monthly payrolls
High level of accuracy and confidentiality
Strong communication and organisational skills
Experience using payroll systems (e.g. Sage Payroll, ADP, or similar)
Supervisory or team lead experience preferred but not essential
