Job Description
Macildowie are working with this client based in the Midlands on an exclusive basis to appoint a commercially focused and people-driven Head of Sales on a permanent basis. This is a role for one of the UK's leading service providers, currently undergoing a period of transformation and growth.
- Salary: £60,000 - £90,000
- Bonus: Up to 3 months' based on EBITDA and group performance.
- Benefits: Company car or EV (or allowance), private medical, life assurance, 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
- Location: Hybrid - typically 3 days onsite - split between locations in the Midlands - as south as Burton-Upon-Trent up to Chesterfield and customer visits), 2 days work-from-home per week (Mondays and Fridays)
- Start date: as late as October/November 2025
- Interview schedule: End of July/beginning of August
This role sits at the heart of a multi-million pound UK operation (the largest revenue stream of their group), reporting into one of the Group Directors, and managing a national team of 6. It is pivotal to driving commercial performance, delivering margin, and nurturing client relationships across three core business streams: Insurance, Subcontractor accounts, and walk-ins.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Leading, nurturing, developing and motivating a team of 6
- Provide feedback and development sessions for the team
- Creating and delivering national sales strategies across all three revenue streams
- Managing complex tender and bid processes for insurance and fleet clients
- Supporting accurate, strategic pricing with commercial teams
- Delivering and protecting service level agreements (SLAs) in collaboration with operations
- Maintaining a strong NPS score and ensuring client satisfaction across all customer types
- Working in partnership with Contact Centre and Operations to meet KPIs and improve processes
- Regular customer engagement across the UK including industry events and relationship development
- Growing revenue from existing clients while proactively identifying new commercial opportunities
- Structuring team objectives, reviews and development plans to improve sales performance
We're Looking for Someone Who:
- Has experience leading B2B sales teams in a service-driven or technical environment
- Understands long-cycle sales, bid/tender processes and high-value strategic contracts
- Brings a structured, commercially astute approach to sales management
- Has credibility and confidence when engaging with executives, procurement leads and operational leaders
- Can balance performance metrics with people development and customer care
- Is collaborative - able to partner closely with Operations and Finance to drive shared goals
- Is comfortable with a visible leadership role, regularly travelling across the Midlands
- Can bring charisma and flair when representing the business at events or with key accounts
- Brings strong critical thinking and analytical ability to commercial decision making
- Ideally understands the insurance, fleet, repair or engineering services sectors - but this is not essential
- Experience in a private equity-backed business is a bonus, but not a requirement
