Interim FP&A Analyst
Job Description

This fast-growing tech business are looking for an FP&A Analyst to join on a temporary basis to strengthen forecasting capability and support the annual budget cycle. You'll be joining a sharp, forward-thinking team that values curiosity, challenge and well-crafted insight.
This isn't the sort of role where you sit in the background updating spreadsheets. You'll be shaping plans, challenging assumptions and making sure the numbers tell a story that leaders can act on. With a mixed track record of bottom-up budgeting, they need someone confident enough to bring structure and rigour, and adaptable enough to work at pace.
What really matters is strong analysis, commercial awareness and the ability to translate the numbers into meaningful and actionable insight.
What you'll do
- Build and own baseline revenue and cost models to underpin the annual budget
- Forecast performance drivers across the business and create robust, bottom-up assumptions
- Work closely with the Commercial and Cost Finance Business Partners to develop and refine models
- Consolidate inputs from multiple areas of Finance, including opex, top-line drivers, cohort data and customer behaviour trends
- Carry out triangulation and scenario analysis to stress-test assumptions (eg. Analysis of market share)
- Produce clear, concise slide packs that explain assumptions, key drivers and risks for senior leadership
- Lead or support budgeting sessions with individual departments, challenging on efficiency, priorities and spending discipline
- Set KPIs to help ensure budget objectives are met and drive the right behaviours
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and insight across the budgeting and planning cycle
What you'll need
- Robust understanding of Excel (index match, look ups, sumifs, macros)
- Strong analytical skills with experience of building and owning financial models
- Solid background in FP&A roles, involving budgetary cycles and KPI tracking
- The confidence to challenge constructively and influence senior stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, able to turn data into clear, actionable insight
- A structured, proactive approach and the ability to bring order to ambiguity
- A finance qualification is useful but not essential
If you enjoy taking ownership, bringing clarity to complexity and working closely with senior leaders, this role offers the chance to make a real impact during a critical point in the planning cycle.
