£50,000-£55,000(dependent on experience)
Nottingham (Hybrid)

A major national provider of community health and social care services is seeking a proactive Management Accountant to support its regional finance function based in Nottingham. The organisation delivers essential care services across the UK, operating at significant scale with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and financial sustainability. This role is a key part of the finance team, providing timely and accurate financial information that underpins operational decision-making and contractual performance.

About the Role

The Management Accountant will take responsibility for monthly management accounts, budget monitoring, and financial analysis across multiple service lines. You will work closely with operational managers to provide meaningful insight, ensure financial compliance, and support the efficient delivery of frontline care services. Key Responsibilities

Management Accounts

  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts for allocated services, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to internal deadlines.

Financial Performance & Control

  • Review P&L performance, investigate variances, and provide clear commentary.
  • Maintain balance sheet schedules and ensure robust financial controls.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Support annual budget setting and monthly forecasting cycles.
  • Work with operational leaders to validate assumptions and highlight financial risks or opportunities.

Business Partnering

  • Act as a finance business partner to non-financial managers across care services.
  • Translate financial information into clear, actionable insight to improve service performance.

Cost Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyse labour, operational costs, and contract profitability.
  • Provide regular reporting packs to senior finance and operational teams.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement enhancements to financial processes, reporting quality, and control environment.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure financial records and processes meet internal policies and sector-specific regulatory requirements.

Ad-Hoc Support

  • Assist with projects, service reviews, and financial modelling as required.

Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified CIMA, ACCA, or ACA (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong experience in management accounting, ideally within multi-site, contract-led, or service-driven environments.
  • Confident working with operational stakeholders and translating financial data into meaningful insight.
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with modern ERP or finance systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to balance accuracy and pace.
  • Adaptable and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset.
