Head of Transactional Finance
Location: Coventry
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
An established and growing landscaping business based in Coventry is seeking an experienced Head of Transactional Finance to lead and develop its finance operations. This is a key senior role, responsible for ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and the smooth running of all transactional finance activities.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director / Senior Leadership Team, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the transactional finance function, leading a team and driving continuous improvement across processes.
Key responsibilities include:
Full ownership of transactional finance functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Cash Management
Leading, mentoring, and developing the transactional finance team
Ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and receipts
Overseeing payroll processing and related compliance
Managing supplier relationships and resolving complex queries
Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements
Supporting month-end close, reconciliations, and audit preparation
Driving process improvements, automation, and efficiencies within the finance function
Providing clear reporting and insight to senior management
About You
You will be a hands-on finance leader with strong transactional experience, ideally gained within construction, landscaping, engineering, or a similar operational environment.
You will bring:
Proven experience in a senior transactional finance or finance operations role
Strong people management and leadership skills
Excellent knowledge of AP, AR, payroll, and cashflow management
High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Confidence working in a fast-paced, operationally focused business
Strong Excel and financial systems experience (ERP/accounting software)
A professional accounting qualification (AAT / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
