Head of Transactional Finance

Location: Coventry
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

An established and growing landscaping business based in Coventry is seeking an experienced Head of Transactional Finance to lead and develop its finance operations. This is a key senior role, responsible for ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and the smooth running of all transactional finance activities.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director / Senior Leadership Team, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the transactional finance function, leading a team and driving continuous improvement across processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full ownership of transactional finance functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Cash Management

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the transactional finance team

  • Ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and receipts

  • Overseeing payroll processing and related compliance

  • Managing supplier relationships and resolving complex queries

  • Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements

  • Supporting month-end close, reconciliations, and audit preparation

  • Driving process improvements, automation, and efficiencies within the finance function

  • Providing clear reporting and insight to senior management

About You

You will be a hands-on finance leader with strong transactional experience, ideally gained within construction, landscaping, engineering, or a similar operational environment.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in a senior transactional finance or finance operations role

  • Strong people management and leadership skills

  • Excellent knowledge of AP, AR, payroll, and cashflow management

  • High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset

  • Confidence working in a fast-paced, operationally focused business

  • Strong Excel and financial systems experience (ERP/accounting software)

  • A professional accounting qualification (AAT / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
