Finance Assistant
Job Description
We are looking to recruit a detail-focused and proactive Finance Assistant to join a successful and growing business based in Loughborough. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering varied exposure across core finance functions in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 per annum
Employment Type: Permanent
Working Arrangement: Office-based (1 day working from home after probation)
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has a solid grounding in transactional finance, and is looking to develop their knowledge across the full finance cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and process purchase ledger: matching, batching, coding, and posting supplier invoices
Raise sales ledger invoices and allocate incoming payments
Reconcile supplier statements, resolve invoice queries, and maintain accurate records
Assist in preparing and submitting CIS returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements
Collate and process weekly and monthly payroll data, including timesheets
Prepare payment runs and manage associated queries with internal teams and external suppliers
Support in the preparation of VAT returns and month-end reporting tasks
Maintain up-to-date financial records and support audits when required
Provide ad hoc support across the finance team as needed
About You:
Experience in a similar finance assistant, accounts assistant, or transactional finance role
Confident managing both purchase and sales ledger processes
Exposure to payroll or CIS is beneficial, but not essential
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
AAT Level 2/3 qualified or currently studying (preferred)
Professional, proactive, and a team player
