Interim Finance Analyst
Location: Northampton | 3 - 6 month initial contract
The opportunity
This growing FMCG business is looking for a Commercial Finance Analyst to step in and provide immediate commercial insight. This isn't a back-office number-crunching role you'll work alongside budget holders and senior managers to influence decisions, track key KPIs, and ensure the business is performing to plan. You'll have the autonomy to shape reporting, highlight risks, and support growth initiatives from day one.
What success looks like
- Clear, actionable insights for commercial teams on sales, margin and promotional performance
- Fast, accurate reporting that helps the business react to changing market conditions
- Strong business partnering with budget holders, helping them understand trends and make informed decisions
- Improvements to Excel reporting and financial models to streamline decision-making
What you'll be responsible for
- Producing weekly and monthly management information packs, focusing on commercial KPIs
- Analysing sales, margins, costs and overheads, highlighting variances and trends
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles with business partners
- Building and maintaining Excel models for pricing, promotions and product profitability
- Working closely with operational and commercial teams to explain performance in practical, understandable terms
- Delivering ad hoc commercial analysis to support strategic decisions
What you'll bring
- Part-qualified or actively studying (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Experience in commercial finance or management accounts, ideally within an SME or FMCG environment
- Strong Excel skills, with confidence building models and dashboards
- A commercial mindset with the confidence to challenge assumptions and ask the right questions
- Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non-finance colleagues
- Proactive, hands-on approach and comfortable delivering under tight deadlines
This is a high-visibility interim role for someone who thrives on fast-paced, commercially focused finance work, with scope to influence decision-making across the business immediately, and the potential for a longer term role.
